It's Wednesday already!!

I hope everyone enjoyed their father's day this past Sunday. We had a great day. Our church service that morning was unbelievable and the message and music were soul piercing. We enjoyed the day with my father-in-law and my husband's sister's and families. What was missing for me was not getting to spend time with my dad. He lives about 2400 miles away from me and I miss not being able to celebrate his special days with him (and my mom!) I am very thankful, however, that I was able to pick up the phone and call and tell him that I love him. It is a blessing that I still can hear his voice when I want to!!

The cards below are ones I and my kids made for my hubby for Father's day. My kids don't share the same passion as I do for cardmaking, but they made one for him anyway! Sadly for me, they'd almost rather do ANYTHING than make cards or do paper crafts. But, it just goes to show how special of a dad he is that they took time to make him a card! My husband is a big fisherman so I made him a fish card. He has fishing on the brain most all of the time, so I thought this was right up is alley! The kids did the same theme. Boy, do they know their dad!!

Two posts in one day!!!

Looking through my pictures, I found a couple of cards I forgot I had taken pictures of, so thought I would post them too! It's Friday - and I hope you guys are having a wonderful day!!

The first picture is of a sympathy card I made for my principal when his father passed away. The second isn't really a card but more of a little tag. For testing week at school we all brought in "treats" to be put into a basket to give to eachother . With the treat we were supposed to attach a note with an inspirational quote or just a happy thought to wish the other person a good week! Just a happy jumpstart to a very long week! This is what I made and attached to the candybar I took in with a happy thought I printed on the back....

WOW! It's been a long time....

I can't believe I've let so much time pass since I've uploaded to my blog again. Seems like sometimes I just get so caught up in "life" that I ignore so many things - this being one of them. and the things I get caught up in, aren't really something I should spend so much energy and thought on. My goal was to do better at keeping this updated, but so far I've not done a very good job at reaching that goal.... I know that if I pray harder and ask the Lord to help keep my mind free of the "busy-ness" that sometimes seems so overwhelming, it will get better!

Here is a card I made for some co-workers to give as a going away card. They wanted something pretty, with a special sentiment to their dear friend, Tess. I hope I accomplished it!!

Baby shower cards

I hope everyone had a great week! It's been busy, but a good one. The weather has been absolutely beautiful!

I made some cards for a co-worker's baby shower we had. I made two because I couldn't decide what to do. I wasn't too sure what exactly I should make for a shower, so I just went with what I thought was cute! That's what I usually do - even if it's not always what would be proper etiquette or however you say it, I go with the cutsie stuff or what I like. Sometimes my tastes are different! But that's okay - God made us all unique : )

Happy Mother's Day a wee bit late!

I had a beautiful mother's day!! We had the best time ever. My husband and our two kiddos went to Barren Lake and scouted out three campgrounds. We played, we ate and we had the best time ever. The lake was soo peaceful and one of the greatest parts was watching the squirrels and the chipmunks. They were EVERYWHERE and they really weren't too afraid of us. They were fun! I love spending time with my family and it was great to be outdoors - especially by a lake! You know that saying that goes something like, "you remind me of your mom" or something along those lines... I know there's a few others out there.... well, I hope I do remind people of my mom. I am more like her every day and wouldn't change it. I

The only thing that would have made this Mother's day better would be if we could have spent the day with our mom's. My mom lives WAY far away - somewhere near 2,400 miles away and because of the distance, we weren't together. But I thought of her all day, as I do every single day and I am so honored to be her daughter. Mama, if you read this - I LOVE YOU and I miss you!!!! There's distance, but I am so blessed that I am able to pick up the phone and hear her voice whenever we want to. My husband's mom, my mother-in-law passed away almost 4 years ago. Her birthday was Saturday and we used to celebrate her birthday and mother's day together with my son's birthday which was Friday. We always had a cookout with the whole family and there's not a day that goes by we don't miss her. She was the best mother-in-law a person could ask for and we were so very blessed to have had her all the time we did. WHEW, before I can't stop the tears, here's my card I made for my mom. She loves house mouse and so I made her a house mouse mother's day card. It's not a typical "mother's day" card, but it was made just for her. I hope you guys like it!!

My first card I made was so very simple. I wanted it to be simple in style and quick to make. That's why I chose the stamps I did. They were from two kits of the month - August and March. You can view them here, and here.

flower and sentiment stamped on Beckett Expression Radiance cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Patterned paper by The paper studio. Ribbon was received in a ribbon exchange. Lyra pencils, gamsol & stickles.

My next card is just a fun card. My family loves to camp and when I saw the little camper stamp from the August kotm, I knew I had to have it! I also used the rainbow/cloud stamp from the March kotm. I cut off the rainbow after I stamped it so I could have only the cloud. The "saying" is also from the August kotm. You can view the kits here, and here.

images were stamped on Beckett Expression Radiance cardstock. The Base of the card is Bazzill. Patterned paper is Cosmo Cricket, Mr. Campy collection; and COLORBOK. Image colored with lyra pencils & gamsol.

Stamping Bella Color Challenge

This is the card I made to join in with Stamping Bella's color challenge for the week. It was actually a card I was making for my niece's birthday and decided to make it in the color scheme for the challenge. I hope she likes it!! The bella's are becoming one of my favorites! I love those stamps!!

supplies used: Cardstock: Bazzill; patterned paper: My Minds Eye & a piece of yellow polka dot from my scrap stash. The ribbon is some I received in a ribbon swap!

Monday, March 30, 2009

I made this for my mom a while back. It was my first attempt at using Twinkiling H2O's. The colors were much, much more brighter in person - I'm having a hard time with my photography skills. I'm still at the Kindergarten stage of my coloring ability on my cards - so maybe once I graduate on that, I'll work on taking better pictures!!!

Spring Break and New Beginnings

Today marks the beginning of our spring break and new beginnings for my blog!

I'm excited to spend time with my kids this week. We aren't going anywhere and doing anything fancy, but I plan on having tons of fun and making the most of our time!!!

This is also a new beginning for my blog. My goal is to keep this up to date and post my cards regularly - hopefully daily! The one above I made a few weeks ago for a friend. She hasn't gotten it yet, but hopefully will today.
I used one of my favorite Bella stamps, ROCKABELLA, and colored it with my new LYRAS - (they were a surprise gift from my adorable husband) and Twinkling H2O's for her pants.
The paper is some I had, and I'm not exactly sure where from. The cardstock is BAZZILL - I love that stuff!! Paula - thank you for getting me hooked on it!!! It's awesome stuff.

Happy New Year

Well, it's been a VERY long time since an update. I really didn't do much with the blog last year so this year I plan on doing things a little different!

Joe is gone hunting, Seph is asleep and Courtney stayed with a friend last night... it's awful quiet down here and it seems like a good time to make something! My goal this year is to make more and spend less. I think I have a hoarding problem or something like that. I buy a piece of patterned paper, or ribbon but I like it so much I hate to "use" it so I'm making myself use my supplies - even if I don't have two of the same, afterall this is not NOAH's ark and I dont HAVE TO HAVE 2 of everything! I had gotten to where if I didn't have 2, I didn't use it! BIG changes are already happening! This Christmas when making my Christmas cards I was very good and used what I had!

Well, I'm off to go create! I will post what I've made later in the day!

Blessings to you all,
Shaunna
